At the age of 1-2 months the child gives response to the caretaker by giving a smile.
The child can hold his head if made to sit with support at around 5 months.
The child learns to sit without support within 6 to 9 months.
The child learns to walk with the help of some support like furniture within 10 to 13 months.
Within 15 to 18 months the child learns to stand and walk without support.
The child can speak approximately 10 simple words at around 12 months. At around 2 years, he can point to his body parts, at around 3 years he can speak common sentences. After 4 years his speech is clear to everyone.
The child goes to the bathroom for his toilet needs by 2-1/2 years but he should be taken to the bathroom and he needs help in wearing /removing clothes and cleaning.
If he does not have control over urine by five years, a doctor should be consulted for the same.
At the age of 3 years, the child can draw simple circle. By four years he learns to draw a square and by 5- 6 years he can draw a triangle like figures.
Do not try to teach the things to the child prematurely. It will create stress between the parents and child. The child rearing will be easier if the parents focus on child’s strength rather than weakness. If the child’s development is slow then always consult a doctor.
